Mike & LuAnn McLaurin will go to Liberia on February 6th, 2009 Mike and LuAn McLaurin visit with Bishop John Innis of Liberia at General Conference in Fort Worth last April.
Greetings! LuAn and I are very excited as we near the beginning of our journey to Monrovia and Gbarnga, Liberia! Monrovia is the capital city and has about 275,000 people. It is also the residence of Bishop John Innis. Gbarnga is about 125 miles into the interior of Liberia. It has about 35,000 people and is where the 176th meeting of the Liberia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will be held. There are about 3.5 million citizens of Liberia; the country is 43,000 square miles in size. (By comparison, Louisiana has 4.4 million citizens and consists of nearly 52,000 square miles.) I will be teaching on the First Epistle of Peter. Please pray for us that God will use us to be a blessing to the United Methodists in Liberia. I know they will be a blessing to us! In Christ, Bro. Mike
